Copy Editing the Web is an attempt to hold professional news organizations to higher standards of copy editing in online journalism. It’s kind of surprising how the quality of copy has suffered at the hands of instant media. The two can co-exist, and they should, for all of the reasons why spelling and grammar were important to begin with.
While there will always be mistakes in written media, we’ve noticed an increasingly higher number of them online, even from major news outlets. You are welcome to submit errors you find to copyerrors at gmail dot com.
Finally, we are not professional copy editors, so we are certainly not immune to mistakes, especially for the more complicated rules. If you do see an error in one of our posts, please teach us how to correct it!
